Fallowness has a purpose too

Its weird to vacate a fully established studio space just before one is to be traveling out of the country for next 3 months, an artist residency and a solo show...
And WHY? Just a few weeks back my landlord calls " Deepak I need your help, my niece has fought with her in-laws and announced that she is shifting out, I know we have another 2 years agreement but please help... ", I said Gosh!! at this juncture .. please tell her to hug her in-laws and say she was kidding, really life is simple or isn't it?

I wondered what was more important her statement or my situation? Well how does it matter and amidst my chaotic life, I simply added more to it, I shifted out and my Delhi home now looks like a warehouse
its nice to follow the winds of change.

Nature gifts me with a nice big studio space in Copenhagen, mysteriously a space once occupied by Sohan Quadri... his last studio building in Copenhagen before he moved to his daughter in Canada.
Sitting here I reflect... about the beautiful chaos that had built up in my Delhi studio, enough paints, canvases, material etc to last me many years, 17 years of personal collection that surrounded me, frantic calls from artist friends, curators, galleries, long discussions over Rum.
I had been working for nearly 16 hours a day for last so many months, fatigued but enjoyed it.
I conveniently did not bring my old cameras thinking I would pick up a compact 'all in one' from where I land, the model i need is sold out.. I now use the Mobile camera, stripped off all my materials and active space...

Hence all of that, does not exist here in this time and space, the beauty of emptiness surrounds me,

As much.... white resides in black as chaos resides in calm. An enhanced significance of a black dot on a white canvas and visa-versa. The significance of negative space in real space, the ability to percive the negative space as the actual image and the image as a negative space, the oscillation, the shift, the play, the illusion.... a game... both un-true... both true, this too that too........ its a chaos & a calm constantly.. either within or external.

On my farewell meeting before I was to proceed for my artist residency at Copenhagen Denmark, facilitated by H.E Mr Freddy Svane, Ambassador at Royal Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi, India, once again landed up talking about the 'Tacit dimension & knowledge'
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacit_knowledge ) for which he has authored a book,  being an abstractionist, 'Tacit knowledge' as explained by Freddy earlier had really excited me.
"keep in touch with your roots" " space is an artist's dream" he said with a final hug and a hand shake.

I wondered about the word Ambassador.... how true... and then just yesterday I met the Danish wife of an artist colleague from the same studio building as mine. She greeted me with amazing information about Rev Dr Kaj Baago, I felt somewhat sheepish for not having known about this great man a missionary, theologist, writer, spiritual revolutionary & Ambassador to India during the 1980's.
Amazed .... here are some must see links....

  • Google books with Dr Kaj Baago
How could such Danish contributions & work with various NGOs go un-noticed by Indian Media & public at large, it would be nice to see some of his great writings translated to English and Hindi for larger benefit to the society.
